| The British S.E.5a is one of the best-known
fighters of WWI. The S.E.5, Scout Experimental Number 5, was built
as a prototype in 1916 and entered production in early 1917. It was
designed for functionality and performance, and built a reputation
as a good all around fighter. It was flown by several of Britain's
most famous aces. The Lanier RC
